Bank of Hawaii First in Hawaii to Add Cardless Cash to Mobile Banking App

Saturday, November 05, 2016

HONOLULU, HAWAII

Bank of Hawaii is the first bank in the state of Hawaii that enables its consumer customers to securely withdraw cash from select Bank of Hawaii ATMs by using the BOH Mobile Banking app.

The new *Cardless Cash™ feature on the BOH Mobile Banking app eliminates the need for a plastic card. Each Cardless Cash transaction features a unique one-time code, making this the safest way to withdraw cash from an ATM.

Cardless Cash is easy to use:

  • Log into the BOH Mobile Banking app.
  • Select "Cardless Cash" in the menu.
  • Enter the withdrawal amount.
  • Scan the QR code located on the ATM.

Once the transaction is complete, customers will receive a digital receipt that is stored in the app. The entire process takes about 15 seconds, compared to 45 seconds for a typical withdrawal transaction at the ATM.

Benefits of Cardless Cash:

  • Reduces the risk of fraud, such as card skimming and shoulder-surfing.
  • Reduces the chances of customers' PINs being stolen by using TouchID or a passcode.
  • Saves time by scanning a QR code with your phone.
  • Allows customers to preset withdrawal amounts.

Cardless Cash will be available first at 185 ATMs at Bank of Hawaii branches, in-store branches and popular retail locations, with plans to expand to its entire network in Hawaii and the West Pacific Region by early 2017. Bank of Hawaii will be enabling ATMs with the Cardless Cash feature as ATMs are updated and/or replaced, and is projected to be installed on all ATMs by the end of 2017.

Customers may search for Cardless Cash ATMs by using the “Find Cardless Cash ATMs” feature within the BOH Mobile Banking app or on www.boh.com. The new feature is also identifiable by the Cardless Cash button displayed on ATM screens.

In 2015, Bank of Hawaii began introducing new ways to pay** with your debit card on your mobile device. Now in 2016, with Cardless Cash, customers can consider going completely mobile and leave their Bank of Hawaii Bankcard and/or debit cards at home. Bank of Hawaii customers now have the option to pay for items in participating retail stores and make ATM cash withdrawals using only their smartphone.
