Bank of Hawaii Announces New Vice Chair Patrick McGuirk and Senior Executive Vice President Sharlene Ginoza-Lee

Patrick McGuirk has been promoted to vice chair and chief administrative officer from senior executive vice president, chief general counsel and corporate secretary at Bank of Hawaii and will continue to oversee the following divisions of the bank: Legal, Legal & Custody, Corporate Secretary, Corporate Insurance Services, Corporate Security, Corporate Real Estate & Facilities, Corporate Communications, Enterprise Strategic Sourcing, and Investor Relations.

McGuirk joined Bank of Hawaii in November 2020, as senior executive vice president, chief general counsel and corporate secretary. Since then, his purview has continued to expand, including being named Bank of Hawaii’s first Environmental, Social & Governance chair in June 2021. McGuirk began his career as a lawyer in private practice in New York, and was a partner at the law firm Sidley Austin LLP and also served as counsel to the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation. Immediately prior to arriving in Hawaii, he was general counsel at Flagstar Bank in Troy, Michigan.

McGuirk received his juris doctorate from Fordham University School of Law and has a bachelor of arts degree from Binghamton University, the State University of New York. With a passion for diversity, equity, inclusion and community engagement, McGuirk is engaged in civic, professional and charitable activities. He serves on the boards of The Hawaii Institute for Public Affairs and IHS, The Institute for Human Services, where he is chair of the governance committee.

Chief People Officer Sharlene R. Ginoza-Lee has been promoted to senior executive vice president from executive vice president. She continues to lead and provide oversight for all areas of Bank of Hawaii’s People Services division, including compensation and benefits, learning development programs, talent acquisition, operations, culture and employee experience.

Ginoza-Lee joined the bank’s Human Resources department in 1994 and acquired a wealth of experience from serving in nearly every department within the division throughout the years. With a keen understanding of the many business units across the company, she advanced to numerous leadership positions, including playing a key role in the bank’s Branch Transformation initiative. In 2020, Ginoza-Lee served as director of Strategic Business Partners, while also providing guidance during a crucial time in the pandemic. In May 2021, she was promoted to chief people officer and a member of the bank’s Executive Committee.

Ginoza-Lee earned her bachelor’s degree in business administration from Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles and is a graduate of the Pacific Coast Banking School.
