Monday, December 12, 2011

HONOLULU, HAWAII – Bank of Hawaii employees, retirees and directors pledged $520,803 during the bank’s 2011 Employee Giving Campaign. The campaign ran for five weeks from Sept. 6 through Oct. 7, 2011, benefiting 20 local nonprofit organizations. Employees voted online to select the 20 beneficiaries. This year’s campaign expanded to also include employees in the West Pacific.

Donations were awarded during a luncheon today, and varied for each organization. (See the breakdown below.) BOH employees and retirees were able to donate to one organization or spread their donation among many. Employees and retirees surpassed their $500,000 goal for the 2011 Employee Giving Campaign. Their efforts also raised $50,000 more than last year.

“We are humbled by the great work of the not-for-profit sector and, in particular, the work of the 20 organizations chosen by our employees. Their work benefits so many people in our community each and every day,” said Peter Ho, Bank of Hawaii chairman, president and CEO. “Celebrating the generosity of our employees is a wonderful way to start the holiday season. This annual campaign is just one of many, many ways that our employees show their aloha and commitment for the communities we are a part of.”
