The Distribution Committee usually meets three to four times per fiscal year to consider one request a year from qualified tax-exempt (501 (C) (3) charitable organizations within the State of Hawaii.  Although the Trust is broad-purposed, it does not make grants to churches or individuals, nor for endowments, reserve purposes, deficit financing, or for the purchase of real estate.

Grants are provided for large capital campaigns, projects or equipment with costs of $500,000 or more.

Tuition Aid Program Information

Policy
Grants for Tuition Aid Programs are available to learning institutions serving children from preschool through 12th grade in the state of Hawaii; however excludes church schools and organizations which proselytize, encourage theology, sectarianism, spiritualism, religion or any system of religious worship.

Generally the Trust prefers to be one of several contributors to a school’s tuition aid program, expecting the school to acquire needed funds from several sources to assure continuation of the program.

Normally the Trust accepts only one request a year from an organization; however an additional request may be considered from a school.

Applications must be submitted by November 15th

  • WASC accreditation required for schools with any or all grades Pre-K – 12
  • NAEYC or NECPA accreditation required for preschools – 3rd grade programs
