Bank of Hawaii Announces New Vice Presidents: Arase and Matsushima

HONOLULU, HAWAII

Brian Arase, senior operations manager, was recently promoted to vice president from assistant vice president in the Lockbox Operations department at Bank of Hawaii. He has more than 23 years of experience at the bank and is responsible for overseeing the receipt and processing of client account receivables while managing the activities of the department.

Arase joined Bank of Hawaii in 1997 and has served in various roles in Vault Services & Operations, including assistant supervisor, deposit services process manager and vault services & operations manager. He earned his bachelor's degree in business administration from the University of Hawai‘i – West O‘ahu.

Erica Matsushima was recently hired as vice president and enterprise content manager in the Enterprise Operations department at Bank of Hawaii. She is responsible for the policy, strategy and execution of record management for the bank. Matsushima partners with enterprise teams to strategically analyze business and customer records to effectively implement processes and procedures, while remaining compliant with business and customer needs, applicable laws, regulations and regulatory requirements.

Matsushima has nearly four years of experience having worked with another local financial institution serving first as a project manager, then operations manager, and finally as a manager of digital records prior to joining the bank. She began her career in Seattle with a mobile phone company working in sales before advancing to senior enterprise project manager. Matsushima earned her bachelor's degree in psychology and political science in 2005 and her certificate in project management in 2011, both from the University of Washington. She is currently enrolled in Pacific Coast Banking School, maintains a Project Management Professional certification with the Project Management Institute and is a member of its Hawaii Chapter.
