Sense of Place
Waialae directly translated is a reference to the fresh water spring frequented by the Alae or Mud Hen. Kahala, meaning amberjack fish, was used to reference the beach/coastal area within the Waialae region. Inspired by the meaning of Waialae-Kahala this beautiful design piece brings these two together and symbolizes feathers as a nod to the Mud Hen, then transitions to the formation of a school of fish.
Rooted in Our Community
The center of the branch features the map of Waialae-Kahala and highlights the elements of the Bank of Hawaii logo symbolizing our commitment to this neighborhood. A replica of an ancient voyaging or fishing canoe which represents navigation, community, and teamwork as well as a nene goose figurine which represents Hawaii’s state bird are also featured in this piece.
Modern Technology
Our digital screens share localized content, updates, and specialized messages for all our customers. These digital screens support our commitment to reducing paper and highlighting businesses, events, and things happening in your community.
