Newsweek Announces Bank of Hawaii as No. 3 Among “America’s Most Trusted Companies” in Banking Category

BOH is the only business in Hawaii out of 400 nationwide to be recognized

March 29th, 2022

Bank of Hawaii has been ranked No. 3 among America’s Most Trusted Companies in the banking industry category, and is the only Hawaii business to appear on the list by Newsweek. The publication’s first annual “America’s Most Trusted Companies 2022” list was published on March 24, in which 400 U.S. companies across 22 industries were ranked.

Newsweek partnered with Statista, a statistics database and consumer research firm, for its inaugural “America’s Most Trusted Companies 2022” list. Publicly traded U.S. corporations with a revenue over $500 million in 2020 were considered. Based on customer research in 2021 from an independent survey of approximately 50,000 U.S. residents, residents rated companies they know on three touchpoints of trust: customer trust, investor trust and employee trust. A total of 110,000 evaluations were submitted.

Some of the questions asked were if respondents believed the individual company treated their customers fairly and addressed concerns to their full satisfaction; treated their employees fairly and offers good opportunities for career development; and believed in the company’s values and trusted the company would be a good, long-term investment. Across all industries, the companies that inspired the most trust tended to be long established.

“Bank of Hawaii is honored to have been selected by the very people who we serve and support. This recognition is especially meaningful, as our community continues to recover from one of the hardest times in recent history,” said Bank of Hawaii Chairman, President and CEO Peter Ho. “This speaks volumes about the commitment our Bank of Hawaii teammates have for our customers, and for establishing longstanding, trusted relationships over our nearly 125 years in business.”
