HONOLULU, HAWAII

January 24th, 2019

Bank of Hawaii announces a fully integrated online mortgage application. SimpliFi Mortgage by Bank of Hawaii® is a new digital platform that allows customers in Hawaii and Guam to complete their mortgage process entirely online while offering direct communication with the bank’s residential loan officers.

Trends in today’s mortgage industry reveal that customers prefer a combination of technology and in-person interaction when applying for a home loan. A study by the American Bankers Association finds that 40 percent of consumers prefer to apply for a mortgage online. Additionally, according to the 2018 Ellie Mae Borrower Insights Survey, 60 percent of consumers feel it’s important to be able to talk to a banker and have the ability to apply for a mortgage online, and 75 percent of homebuyers stated they would have applied online if they could speak to someone when needed.

“Bank of Hawaii is excited to continue addressing the growing demand for digital conveniences in our local community,” said Matthew Emerson, BOH’s senior executive vice president and director of e-commerce. “With SimpliFi Mortgage by Bank of Hawaii, we are enhancing the experience for both first-time homebuyers and those who want to refinance. By providing a seamless online and mobile platform that includes digital and human conveniences, SimpliFi Mortgage by Bank of Hawaii gives customers greater control and autonomy during the mortgage loan process.”

SimpliFi Mortgage by Bank of Hawaii uses the latest in mortgage software, making the loan process safe, reliable, easy and fast for customers. In addition to online tools and resources, including pre-qualification requests, mortgage rates and document checklists, customers may use SimpliFi Mortgage by Bank of Hawaii to:

  • Complete their online application and check its status 24/7 from any mobile device. Customers may also save their application and complete the process when it is convenient for them.
  • Snap a photo and upload the document with user-friendly features, including “drag and drop” from any smartphone or tablet.
  • Receive, review and e-sign disclosures.
  • Receive notifications from mortgage professionals; review all messages in their account, making them easily retrievable.
  • Collaborate with local loan officers, either online or in person.

For the sixth year in a row, Bank of Hawaii is Hawaii’s No. 1 residential lender, both for the number of residential loans recorded and the total dollars loaned in 2018.
