Bank of Hawaii Affirms Its Dedication to Hawaii Island Communities with Two New Branches of Tomorrow

Upgraded Branches in Ka‘ū and Kona Opened in November

KONA, HAWAII

November 12th, 2025

Bank of Hawaii marked another milestone with the blessing of its two newest Branches of Tomorrow, one in Ka‘ū on Nov. 3 and the other in Kona on Nov. 10. These branch renovations are part of the bank’s longstanding commitment to modernize branches in closely knit communities across the state of Hawaii and the West Pacific.

Both Branches of Tomorrow have been well established in their communities for decades, with the Ka‘ū Branch first opening over a century ago in December 1922. The Kona Branch first opened in 1957 and moved to its current location in 2012.

“Ka‘ū and Kona are home to our neighbors, our families, and the businesses that make Hawaii Island unique,” said Bank of Hawaii Chairman and CEO Peter Ho. “These Branches of Tomorrow reflect our commitment to provide welcoming spaces for meaningful conversations and trusted guidance. We’ve been here for generations, and we’re committed to serving the next ones with the same aloha.”

The newly renovated 1,920 sq. ft. Ka‘ū Branch has been thoughtfully modernized to include two private Pili rooms for in-person or virtual consultations. The popular 24/7 ATM remains easily accessible on the exterior of the branch. A refreshed interior honors the community it serves with a shimmery black wall behind the tellers that represents the nearby black sand beach of Punalu‘u. The Ka‘ū Branch is open five days a week, Monday through Friday, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. The architect is Peter Vincent Architects.

Upgrades to the 6,918 sq. ft. Kona Branch include six Pili rooms for consultations and Banklanai® with 24/7 ATM banking. A signature art piece placed at the entrance to the branch showcases the stunning waters and swirling currents of the Kona coastline. The upgraded branch is located in the Kona Commons Shopping Center and is open six days a week: Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., and Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. The architect is MC3 Architects.

It has long been Bank of Hawaii’s mission to provide for all communities, large and small, and support their evolving needs. With 51 branches system-wide, Bank of Hawaii is honored to be the only financial institution on all main Hawaiian islands and throughout the West Pacific. Bank of Hawaii is investing in the following Branch of Tomorrow transformations over a two-year period:
