Alexander (Alex) Chen is Assistant Vice President at Bank of Hawaii with deep experience in business valuation, financial analysis, and professional accounting services. As part of the Business Interests and Valuation team, he supports business owners, families, and fiduciaries with rigorous, well‑supported analyses that inform financial, strategic, and long‑term planning decisions.

Alex specializes in valuation and advisory engagements for closely held businesses, family partnerships, and investment entities. His work spans a broad range of industries, including retail and wholesale trade, trucking and logistics, construction and engineering, property management, manufacturing, agriculture and ranching, real estate management and investment holdings, family investment companies, urgent care and medical services, limited- and full-service restaurants, franchising operations, and automotive repair. His approach reflects a strong understanding of regulatory considerations and the unique objectives of private owners.

Prior to joining Bank of Hawaii, Alex served as an asset manager for a private trust, overseeing trust‑owned assets and supporting fiduciary and long‑term planning objectives. Earlier in his career, he spent four years in public accounting, providing attestation services to clients in the construction, local government, housing and property management, employee benefit plan, and nonprofit sectors.

Alex earned a Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting, Finance, and International Business from the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa and holds the Certified Public Accountant designation.
