Thursday, October 05, 2017

HONOLULU, HAWAII

Bank of Hawaii Foundation has pledged $75,000 to the J. Walter Cameron Center to support upgrades and renovations to the center to ensure its long-term viability as a one-stop health and human services facility for Maui residents. The pledge will be paid over three years, and will be used to help with planned upgrades such as solar panels to increase energy efficiency, enhancements to the wireless network, and an overhaul to the communications systems.

Bank of Hawaii Foundation President Donna Tanoue said, “We are pleased to help the J. Walter Cameron Center utilize 21st-century efficiencies and upgrades so that it can continue as a central umbrella for nonprofits providing health, education and human services to the people of Maui for future generations.”

J.Walter Cameron Center (JWCC) has been providing office and program space to community organizations and public agencies at below-market rent for more than 40 years. With its mission “to incubate, support and accelerate social good,” the center is currently home to 15 resident agencies that serve more than 30,000 Maui residents each year, and also serves as the venue for more than 600 annual community workshops, seminars and meetings.
