Bank of Hawaii Celebrates 10th Annual Community Walk

HONOLULU, HAWAII – Nearly 1,000 Bank of Hawaii employees and their families started the morning off with a walk around Kapiolani Park for the 10th annual Bank of Hawaii Live Kōkua Community Walk.

Bank of Hawaii employees selected the walk’s beneficiaries through an online voting process, and then raised a total of $111,780 in donations that will be divided equally among three programs:

  • Youth Suicide and Bullying Project, Mental Health America of Hawaii
    Education and advocacy about how to identify, intervene and get help for depression, suicide and bullying.
  • YO! (Youth Outreach) Program, Waikiki Health and Hale Kipa partnership
    Safe haven for homeless youth, offering meals, showers, medical services, counseling, employment and housing assistance.
  • Transitional Housing at Fernhurst Program, YWCA of O‘ahu
    Housing and services for homeless employed women, including women who complete the Ka Hale Hoʻāla Hou No Nā Wāhine work furlough program.

From 2007 to 2016, Bank of Hawaii employees have raised $1,141,526 million through its Bank of Hawaii Live Kōkua Community Walk, benefitting a total of 28 local organizations. Including the bank’s neighbor island and West Pacific locations, each of which participate in walks on their respective islands, Bank of Hawaii employees have raised more than $1.4 million for 65 nonprofits.
