Bank of Hawaii Names New Executive Vice Presidents: Ing and Murphy

Honolulu, Hawaii (September 27, 2007) - Susan L. Ing has been promoted to executive vice president from senior vice president and marketing director, reporting to Peter Ho, vice chairman and chief banking officer.  She continues her responsibilities as director of Marketing and is responsible for overseeing advertising, market research, direct marketing, client experience, and promotions and events.

Ing, who has more than 20 years of marketing experience in the financial services industry in Hawaii and on the mainland, began her career as a management trainee at Bank of Hawaii.  Prior to joining the bank in 2004, she served as vice president of sales and marketing for DTRIC Insurance Company in Honolulu.  She was also the division vice president of marketing for Finance Enterprises and vice president of product management for Bank of America, both in Honolulu.  In addition, she served as group senior vice president of marketing for Coast Federal Bank of Los Angeles, Calif. (now Washington Mutual).

A graduate of the University of Hawaii, Ing holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration.  She is a member of the Sales and Marketing Executives of Honolulu, American Marketing Association, Hawaii Advertising Federation, and Direct Marketing Association.  Ing currently serves on the boards of directors for the Better Business Bureau, Hawaii Book and Music Festival, and People Attentive to Children (PATCH).

Richard “Rick” B. Murphy has been promoted to executive vice president from senior vice president and retail credit manager.  Murphy continues his responsibilities of  managing risk in the company’s retail loan portfolios in concert with the retail business managers.  Prior to joining Bank of Hawaii in 2006, Murphy served as senior vice president and manager of Consumer Credit Review at Bank of America.  With more than 28 years of experience in the financial services industry, he has held positions as audit director, audit manager and information technology auditor at Bank of America.

Murphy, who has a Certified Public Accountant designation, earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Old Dominion University, Va. and is a graduate of the Graduate School of Retail Bank Management at the University of Virginia.
