Bank of Hawaii Launches New Mortgage Loan Program For Native Hawaiian Community
Honolulu, Hawaii (November 7, 2006) - Bank of Hawaii recently launched the Bankoh Hawaiian Home Lands Loan Program, an innovative program designed to help native Hawaiians purchase their homes on Hawaiian Home Lands.  It is the bank’s newest mortgage program and was first introduced at the Council for Native Hawaiian Advancement’s fifth annual Native Hawaiian Convention in late September.

Bank of Hawaii to Rebuild Kohala Branch
Honolulu, Hawaii (November 6, 2006) - Bank of Hawaii announced today it intends to rebuild its branch facility in Kohala on the Big Island.  Engineers had determined that the Oct. 15 earthquake had caused major structural damage to the building’s roof and walls. As a result the branch has been closed due to safety concerns.

Confidence in Hawaii Economy Returns to Previous Levels Acccording to Bank of Hawaii Survey
Honolulu, Hawaii (Sept. 5, 2006) - Confidence levels among Hawaii’s businesses remained high but reflected the challenges of higher prices, tighter labor and slower housing markets, according to results of the August 2006 Bank of Hawaii Business Confidence Survey.
Paul Brewbaker, Bank of Hawaii’s chief economist, said, “Although current levels of confidence are high, the results indicate a return to the levels of 2003, when Hawaii’s economy was ramping up to peak growth in 2004 and 2005. The tempered confidence in 2006 reflects the impact of rising costs of energy, housing and building materials along with a tight labor market.”
