Our Thoughts on the Road Ahead

As the state of Hawaii makes plans to safely begin reopening our economy, everyone here at Bank of Hawaii would like to take a moment to thank you for weathering this storm together with us.

As an essential business, we have remained open throughout the COVID-19 shutdown, ready to serve you with 32 branches operating across Hawaii and our West Pacific community, as well as with convenient, effective mobile and online banking options.

Though the past several months have been challenging for everyone, we’ve been working hard to serve you, evolving to meet the new realities and needs of our customers, our employees, our communities. This evolution has come in many forms, from kūpuna hours that protect the most vulnerable among us, to financial assistance programs designed to help make ends meet even when financial pressures mount. We’ve re-trained branch employees to support our Call Center, and enacted social distancing measures to maximize safety.

The Road Ahead

As we all look forward to what happens next, Bank of Hawaii will continue to look for ways to improve and evolve, and we wanted to take this opportunity to share with you the ways we’re thinking about our branches and operations.

We can’t stress this enough: Your health, and the health of our employees, are our highest priorities. Every decision we make is with your health and safety in mind. We are currently evaluating plans to re-open additional branches, with a phased approach to ensure everyone's safety, and are examining every aspect of our operations with that same lens.  

As we look to reopen more of our branches, we want everyone to be safe and comfortable while banking, and so we’ll be continuing many of the measures put into place to keep everyone healthy, including:  

  • face coverings for employees and customers
  • social distancing of six feet or more inside all our branches
  • limiting the number of employees and customers inside of a branch at any one time
  • increased cleaning and sanitization
  • kūpuna hours
  • pausing or adapting certain bank services and events as needed for safety

As always, we also offer a wide range of mobile and online options, so you can bank safely and securely from the comfort of home, or wherever you are. Deposit checks with your phone, open a new account online, transfer money between Bank of Hawaii accounts, pay bills automatically—if you’ve got a banking need, you can probably handle it with e-Bankoh and the Bank of Hawaii mobile app. And our large network of ATMs make it easy to bank while social distancing, with everything from low-contact Cardless Cash to easy access to account balance checks.
